Stonetown

Freddie Mercury House: In the heart of the city center, you'll find the Freddie Mercury House, a yellow building where Freddie and his family once lived. Right nexthe birthplace, you'll find a relatively small exhibition about Freddie's life.

Palace of Wonders was built in 1883, the building was one of six palaces for Sayyid Barghash bin Said Al-Busaid, the second sultan of Zanzibar.
The Slave Market Museum stands on the site where slaves were once held captive before being traded.
Zanzibar was one of the last places in the world with a slave market. Today, you can learn more about the slave trade (through a free guide) here, which lasted until 1873, and you'll see many artifacts reminiscent of that era. The museum is an absolute must-see during a visit to Stone Town, although it's anything but a cheerful outing.

Jaws Corner is a small square right in the center of Stone Town and is surrounded by narrow alleys and streets. It is the hangout spot for many locals, who spend their days playing games, catching up, drinking coffee, and just hanging out. Notably, there is a phone hanging high above the ground. According to the sign, anyone who comes by can make free international calls.

                             Prison Island

The island lies off the coast of Stone Town and owes its nickname to the construction of a prison for rebellious slaves in the late 19th century. However, due to the abolition of slavery, it was never used as such. But the building was not completely empty, as it later served as a quarantine site for ships passing by Zanzibar due to threats such as plague and cholera. In 1919, the island received permanent residents from the Seychelles: four giant tortoises, which have since bred to the point where there are now over 100 individuals roaming around. Almost everything on the island is accessible: from the old prison, the beautiful beaches, and the sea to the old bridge and the large living area of the tortoises. You can also enjoy excellent snorkeling there.

                                   Spice farm

Visit to the Spice Farm. Zanzibar is world-famous for its spice production, and a visit to a local spice farm is a must. During a tour, you learn how cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and vanilla grow, and you can smell and taste everything. The guides enthusiastically share their knowledge, and often at the end of the tour, you are treated to a delicious lunch with local dishes, naturally prepared with the spices you just saw.

                   Jozani National Park

In the southeast of the island, you will find Jozani National Park, the only national park in Zanzibar. Here you can wander through a beautiful rainforest full of exotic plants and animals. The biggest attraction? The red colobus monkey, a rare species found only here. This unique monkey species makes it one of the most visited spots on the island, so keep in mind that there will be quite a few other tourists. Also, don't forget to take a walk through the mangroves, where you can admire the island's unique ecosystems up close.

                                  The Rock Zanzibar

This iconic restaurant should not be missing from your travel itinerary. Located on a small rock in the middle of the water, The Rock is a unique place to have lunch or dinner. At low tide, you can walk there, but at high tide, you are brought by boat. When you arrive at the parking lot, you need to walk under this arch towards the beach.

           The Most Beautiful Beaches

Zanzibar is famous for its pearl-white beaches, and it’s hard to choose a favorite here. A few highlights:

Pingwe Beach: The famous beach by 'The Rock'.

Nungwi Beach: Perfect for sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts.

Kendwa Beach: A quiet place where you can fully experience the island vibe.
